Mehra Golshan, MD, MBA FACS

Mehra Golshan, MD, MBA FACS is a cancer surgeon and internationally recognized leader in breast cancer treatment and research. In addition to caring for patients, he serves as Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center and as Executive Vice Chair, Director of Medical Education in the Department of Surgery and Professor of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Golshan has over 200 peer-reviewed publications and has led numerous Phase I, II, and III clinical trials. His research has influenced treatment options and outcomes for women. He is an innovator in tailoring surgery and therapy for breast cancer and has spent his career researching patient-centered de-escalation of therapy. He has trained and mentored over 100 breast surgical fellows from around the world.

Dr. Golshan serves on several boards, including the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), the MIT Sloan School of Management and Building Together initiative. He is Chair of the Education Committee of NAPBC.  He is a recipient of the 2025 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, one of the nation’s highest honors for his contributions to breast cancer care, research and education.

He completed his fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and earned his MD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and an MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management.

Prior to joining Yale, he spent 17 years at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (BWH/DFCI), where he was the inaugural Dr. Abdul Mohsen and Sultana Al-Tuwaijri Distinguished Chair in Surgery and Director of Breast Surgery at BWH/DFCI and Harvard Medical School.
